Former Dacula Mayor to Be Laid to Rest Sunday

Larry Lathan Fleeman, age 66 of Dacula, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from complications of acute myeloid leukemia.

Fleeman was a member of Dacula United Methodist Church, a mason with Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge # 131 F&AM and a member of the Gwinnett Chairmans Club. He also served as mayor of Dacula for eight years.

A lifelong resident of Gwinnett County, Fleeman began his career in the car business at the Gulf Oil Station in downtown Lawrenceville. He also owned Fleeman & Pratt Used Cars for many years. In 1992, Fleeman and Marvin Hewatt opened U.S. Auto Sales, which is now the largest pre-owned car dealership in Georgia. 

Fleeman was preceded in death by his father, Lathan “Lake” Fleeman. He is survived by his wife: Judy Bedingfield Fleeman, Dacula; children: Russell and Tammy Fleeman, Dacula; Ashley and Jamie Toler, Dacula; mother: Bonnie Fleeman, Lawrenceville; sisters: Faye and J.B. Sammons, Lawrenceville; Donna and Jerry Mitchell; Dacula; sisters-in-law: Joan Compton, Grayson; Brenda Bedingfield, Auburn; brother-in-law: Willard Bedingfield, Lawrenceville; grandchildren: Amber Fleeman, Olivia Toler, Will Toler as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, May 4 and from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. in Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Rd, SW, Lawrenceville, Ga. 30046. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Hebron Baptist Church, Dacula. Rev. Duke Forster, Rev. Tyrone Hutchinson and Rev. Phil Garner will officiate. Burial will take place at the Alcova Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrenceville.
