GGC Accepting Applications for Tech Camp

  • April 16, 2012

Georgia Gwinnett College is now accepting applications for its annual Tech Camp for middle and high school students.

During Tech Camp, students explore computing careers, design games and mobile applications, and build robots. The summer enrichment program promotes creative thinking and problem-solving.

This year’s camp sessions are as follows:

• Session I: June 11-14 (high school coed - rising 9th and 10th grade students)

• Session II: June 18-21 (middle school boys)

• Session III: June 25-28 (middle school girls)

High school participants will use GameSalad to create games for cell phones or tablets, and will use App Inventor to create applications for tablet computers or Android cell phones.

Middle school participants will use the popular LEGO Mindstorms to build robots and will also have the opportunity to design games.

Georgia Gwinnett faculty and staff provide instruction with additional assistance provided by GGC students. The teacher and assistant/student ratio is 1:6 during instructional sessions.

The Tech Camp program fee is $185. Financial aid is available for a limited number of students with demonstrated financial need.

A $35 non-refundable application fee will be applied towards the camp’s total tuition of $185.

Snack will be provided, but students must pack their own lunch.

Tech camp registration is available online. For more information, contact Nannette Napier or Kristine Nagel at 678-407-5458, or send an e-mail to TechCampAdmin@lists.ggc.edu.
