By Janice Rogers, Gwinnett 4-H Council

On Saturday May 5, three teams from Gwinnett 4-H’s Horse Club competed in the State Horse Judging and the State Hippology contests.

Participation in these events teaches critical thinking, problem solving, and public speaking in comprehensive areas of equine management and science.

Gwinnett Senior Team A accomplished something very rare in 4-H  by winning both the Horse Judging and the Hippology state contests. They have become Master 4-H’ers and will compete in National competitions for both events.  Team members are: Savannah Harrison, Sarah Lawley, Amanda Davis and Anna Marie Schwed. Savannah Harrison was high individual in Hippology and tied for high individual for Horse Judging.

Gwinnett Senior Team B was second place in Hippology and fifth place in Horse Judging.  Team members are: Caroline Hinton, Nathaniel Hinton and Mallory Huff (all from Dacula High School). They have won a trip to compete in the Southern  Regional Hippology competition, a multi- state event.

Gwinnett Junior Team won the state Horse Judging contest and placed fifth in the Hippology contest. Team members are Sarah Kearns, Sabrina Sailer and Makenna White.
