Local Dentist Participates in Lake Lanier Islands Sprint Triathlon
What do Lake Lanier, Jeff from the Bert Show and Sanjay Gupta (CNN chief medical director and Emory Neurosurgeon), and local Dacula dentist Colin Lentz, DDS have in common? They were all part of the Lake Lanier Islands Sprint Triathlon that took place this Sunday.
If you were one of the almost 1,500 participants from all over the Southeast then you know just how great of an event it was. The air and water temp were perfect, the streets were dry and clear for biking and the short 5k run under the turning oak trees meant that everyone was back home in time for 1pm NFL kickoff!
So what is a Sprint Triathlon? We'll it typically breaks down like this:
400 meter swim
14 mi bike ride
5 k run
Most people will finish this type of race between 1.5-2.5 hours.
Who can do it? Everyone (including YOU)! In fact, below is a link for the next triathlon at Lake Lanier in June that is perfect for people who want to compete in their FIRST triathlon.
It is rewarding to complete an event such as triathlon. It truly is an accomplishment and is something that you can be proud of. Doing events like this help stimulate your own health consciousness. When you start training most people (and their family members) start eating better and living better. Don't do it to lose weight...do it to get fit and healthy.
