Newest Section of Sugarloaf Parkway Now Open

  • July 2, 2012

The newest section of Sugarloaf Parkway is now open to traffic.

Gwinnett County officials held a ribbon cutting July 2 to open the section of Sugarloaf Parkway that runs from the West Campbell Road interchange to State Route 316. The latest segment includes two of the four ramps planned at Highway 316.

The section is the third to be opened in phase 1 of the project. Section two, which connected Martins Chapel Road to West Campbell Road, opened in August of 2011.

The roadway construction was funded through SPLOST.

This is great! I was driving through there before this was open. Looks like plenty of room to make that merge. Even at rush hour. Can't wait for the bridge and other ramps to open to get to the west side of Dacula.

The only problem I have with the whole extension from GA20 to 316...the exits are in strange areas. Seem to be in low traffic spots that you really have to travel to reach neighborhoods.

And I'm still ticked they closed Bramlett Shoals Rd and made the little connector portion that forces traffic around the new road. That was such a good straight shot from Dacula to Grayson. Now it's slow and a waste of time.
