Thieves Nearly Caught in Hamilton Mill

According to the wishes of my wife, I am not using my real name.  At around 4 A.M. Wednesday morning my wife was awoken by a loud vehicle.  She looked out and saw a man trying to open a neighbor's car door.  She woke me and I jumped in my car to try to get a tag #.  As I was pulling out, I spotted another neighbor a few houses down in the street and asked if he had seen them.  He stated that they had just driven to the back of the neighborhood.  We then devised an ingenious plan in which I would block the road with my vehicle in the hopes that we could persuade the young men to have a friendly chat with us while waiting for the police.  Unfortunately, the young men were in no mood to talk.  They drove into a neighbors yard to get around my vehicle.  As I told the police officers later, "As they drove by me, in an attempt to gain their attention, I gently tapped on their window with my 18" mag light."  Apparently I exerted a bit too much force, and the window shattered.  They ended up getting away.

Please be on the lookout for an older model, burgundy SUV (possibly a Blazer or Tahoe), with a rather loud exhaust and lacking a rear passenger side window.  It also has a dealer tag. In the vehicle were three young white males.

On the off chance that these "thugs in training" may read this, I want to warn them that I, and many of my neighbors are firm believers in the second amendment.  Sneaking around our homes in the middle of the night could be rather hazardous to your health.

Yeah!! Exactly what I would have done. If these thugs think they can get away with this stuff they'll keep coming back. But when someone stands up and gets in their grill, or back passenger window as it was, they'll think twice. Good job anonymous butt kicking citizen!
