Alert Neighbor Spots Hamilton Mill Package Thief
Neighbor followed the suspects and was able to recover the stolen package after the thieves dumped it behind a business.

The thieves got away, but, thanks to an alert neighbor, a stolen package was recovered.
On Feb. 4, police were dispatched to a theft in progress call. A Hamilton Mill resident had called police to advise he had witnessed two male suspects take a package off a neighbor’s porch.
The man followed the suspect’s green Ford F150 and saw them pull behind a business on Hog Mountain Road before fleeing the location. An officer located the stolen package behind the business.
According to the neighbor, the two suspects were white males in their late teens or early twenties. The neighbor was able to provide police with a tag number of the suspect vehicle.
The officer later spoke with the owner of the package who confirmed that she had not given anyone permission to retrieve the package from her residence. The package, according to the owner, contained approximately $100 worth of marketing materials.
The case is listed as active.

- Possession of less than an ounce of marijuana in the 2600 block of Drowning Creek Road.
- Theft by taking in the 2900 block of Luke Edwards Road.
Jan. 29
- Entering auto in the 400 block of Rabbit Hill Road.

Recently, we received a package that was delivered by FedEx. The FedEx driver left the package out on the ground behind our mailbox post, where it could be easily seen from the road. The mailbox is quite a ways, and not visible from our house. It is a wonder no one picked up our package.

My problem with FedEx is that they will leave a package on my porch and not ring the doorbell unless it is something I have to sign for. My mailman, Ted, always rings the doorbell. I really appreciate that - I hate having packages just sitting outside that anyone could drive by and take.

It is time we the clients demand more of FED EX and the rest of them. While I know the US Post office is not allowed to use these "drop and run" tactics, they are never going to be able to match the public companies business plan due to governmental regulations. Is it company policy for FED EX to not ring the door bell?

I'm a little frustrated that I haven't seen these little punks in Gwinnett Mugs yet. The officer ran the tag and came up with a hit for that vehicle. I can easily ID the driver. I saw them both pick up and drop the package. Why no arrest yet? Seems like a pretty open and shut case. I left a message last Friday with the GCPD for an update and haven't heard back yet.

Agree with Joe H...........where is the follow-up story Dacula Patch that has the results of making an arrest on two that had the F150 tagged as the get away vehicle? Please report your findings on Monday as we are looking for resolution on a case closed on the arrest of these two.
