Andy Griffith Dead at Age 86

Legendary television actor, star of "Matlock" and "The Andy Griffith Show" died today.

 

Beloved television star Andy Griffith has died. 

Griffith, best known for his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor in "The Andy Griffith Show," also starred in the popular television series "Matlock" and appeared in several films including "No Time for Sergeants" and "A Face in the Crowd."

According to a USA Today report, Griffith passed away at his home in Dare County, North Carolina around 7 a.m. He was 86 years old.

I believe I must have watched every episode of The Andy Griffith Show at least 10 times. It was the soundtrack of my youth. Andy, Barney, Aunt Bea, Opie, Floyd, Goober, Otis, Thelma Lou, Ellie, Helen, Ernest T. Bass, The Darlings, Howard, Clara Edwards, Rafe Hollister; what an amazing cast of characters. Most have gone on to heaven's front porch, hope they leave a light on for me.

You forgot Gomer! I liked him and I also enjoyed his spinoff "Gomer Pyle, USMC."Sgt. Carter was great. I guess Andy Griffith probably thought that show up since it was based on his "No Time for Sergeants" movie.
