Monday, the GBI released new video of what would become Ryan Brunn's final interview with authorities.  In the interview, which occurred at the Cherokee County Detention Center immediately after he pleaded guilty to the December 2011 murder of 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera, Brunn said the Canton Elementary first-grader was a “cute kid.”

"Yeah, she was a cute kid," said Brunn, who admitted that he was attracted to young kids and had watched child pornography.

Jorelys was _abducted at about 5 p.m. Dec. 2 near a playground at the River Ridge at Canton apartment community_ where she lived and died. Brunn, 20, worked there as a maintenance worker. He'd moved from Dahlonega to Canton only weeks earlier.

Jorelys' severely beaten body_ was found in a Dumpster from the complex on Dec. 5. An autopsy found that she likely died 60 to 90 minutes after she disappeared. Jorelys had been compacted, but not before she was _bound, gagged and bludgeoned to death with her own skate—the item Brunn used to lure Jorelys to a vacant apartment unit that authorities later determined was the crime scene. Her throat was slit.

 

Man Tells Deputies He Was Knocked Out and RobbedOconee Patch

A man told deputies he had been drinking at his Pinewood Estates South mobile home park trailer around 2 a.m. on Feb. 5 when two females knocked on his door. According to an incident report, the victim said he let the two women inside but a man also entered and hit him in the head, knocking him out for about 40 minutes. 

When he awoke, the victim said the suspects were gone and had robbed him of about $5,600 cash.  Deputies did recover about $600 found in the driveway.

 

Mitt Romney Appears in Buckhead Wednesday AfternoonBuckhead Patch

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney will make an appearance in Buckhead Wednesday afternoon.

Romney will be at Bottega Stone, which makes custom granite and marble countertops, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Romney Web site. The business' web site said it is hosting Romney in its showroom.
