2 Dead, 15 Injured in Tractor-Trailer Accident – Douglasville Patch

Two people are dead and 15 injured after a July 11 crash in Douglas County.

The accident occurred when a tractor-trailer that was northbound on Thornton Road struck a Nissan Sentra in the driver's side. The vehicles then crossed into the southbound lanes and hit two other vehicles.

The crash remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team and the GSP post in Villa Rica.

Woman Arrested for DUI, Complains About Difficulty of Field Sobriety Test – Athens Patch

An Athens woman was arrested for DUI after completing a field sobriety test she described as the hardest thing she had ever had to do.

Adriene Adams, 30, was stopped by officers in the Rite Aid parking lot on Barnett Shoals Road. The officer reported that he didn't smell alcohol on her breath, but Adams seemed "spaced out." When the officer mentioned that she ran a red light at the intersection of Barnett Shoals Road and College Station while driving on the wrong side of the street, Adams speech became more slurred. She told officers she shouldn't have run the red light. 

Officers later determined Adams was driving under the influence of a pain reliever.

State Patrol: Drugs Suspected in Accident – Canton-Sixes Patch

Troopers suspect the woman who was flown to Atlanta Medical Center on Tuesday with abdominal pain and other injuries after a single vehicle accident in Canton might have had drugs in her system, a spokesman with the Georgia State Patrol said today.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services found a truck near the intersection of Sam Nelson Road and Highway 108, and a woman trapped inside.

Though the woman had to be removed from the vehicle and suffered injuries to her left arm and leg from the vehicle, her condition was stable, fire spokesman Tim Cavender said on Tuesday. 

The State Patrol's Wright did not specify why authorities believed drugs were a factor in the accident.
