Church News: Kickoff Cookout, Wednesday Fall Classes and More

A look at events scheduled during the upcoming week for churches in and around Dacula.

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 14

Stop by the Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church this Sunday, Aug. 14 between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the Kickoff Cookout. Church members and all members of our community are invited to see what HMUMC is all about. There will fun children’s activities including inflatables and contests as well as a homemade ice cream tasting contest. Regular church attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. The UM men will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs.

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church will host a support group for those directly or indirectly affected by cancer. This is a special time of prayer, support and sharing.

  • Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University

The Sunday class for Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University starts tonight at 5:30 p.m. in Modular C at Hebron Baptist Church.

For those who have suffered a recent loss, Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church’s grief share group offers support. The group meets on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. in modular room A-1.

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 15

Teens are invited to attend this recovery ministry group for teens and students dealing with life's hurts and addictions. The group meets at 6:45 p.m. in D210 at Hebron Baptist Church.

Are you dealing with life's habit, hurts or hang ups?  Join Celebrate Recovery at Hebron Baptist Church on Monday nights.  Dinner is served at 6 p.m. ($3 for adults, $1 children). The large group meets in Chapel at 6:30 p.m., small groups meet at 7:30 p.m. 

Small groups are available for obsessive compulsive disorders, alcohol addictions, adult children of alcoholics, sexual addictions, chemical dependency, survivors of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, eating disorders, depression, unforgiveness, freedom from anger, co-dependency, dealing with past/present guilt and shame.

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 16

  • Community Story Time

It’s the last preschool story time of the summer at the Hebron Baptist Church library. Story time begins at 10 a.m. and is perfect for preschool age children.

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church Al-Anon offers hope and help to families and friends of alcoholics. The group also includes Alateen for younger members. Participants whose lives have been affected by the alcohol problems of others can find solutions and support. The group meets each Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Modular A-1.

  • Tuesday Evening Prayer Time

The worship center at Hebron Baptist Church will be open for prayer between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church welcomes children and their families to the FX Live event this Wednesday, Aug. 17. Bring your friends to this special fun and interactive multi-media worship experience at HMUMC.

  • Beginning Sign Language Class

Join this class offered for children ages 10 through adults at Hebron Baptist Church in Modular A, room 3. This group will met August 17-November 16 from 6:45 p.m.to 8 p.m. This is a free course. Register by calling Sharon Hortman at 770-963-9709.

  • Advanced Sign Language Class

Register for this intermediate ASL/Conversational skills class geared toward those with a basic knowledge of ASL vocabulary. This class will run from Aug. 17 through Oct. 26 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. There is no fee to attend this course offered by Hebron Baptist Church.

  • Outlive Your Life

Attend this study which will help you learn to minister to your neighbors. Materials will include the works of Max Lucado and will encourage you to use the gifts God gave you to perform the works you were created to do. Hebron Baptist Church is offering this course for a fee is $14.

  • Can you love those who hurt and persecute us?

How do you respond when others persecute or hurt you? Learn how to respond with love as Jesus says we should do. This class offered by Hebron Baptist Church will use personal experience, class discussion and Bible lessons to cover material. This is a free course that runs from Aug. 17 through Sept. 21.

  • The Truth Project

Phil Foil will lead this study that defines truth and how it can impact every aspect of your life. This is a video series that runs from Aug.17 through Nov. 16. The course offered by Hebron Baptist Church requires a fee is $5 per participant. Contact Phil Foil at 404-861-6719 for more information.

The single mom support group at Hebron Baptist Church will meet Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. in MA6.

Join the women of NewBranch in their Wednesday evening Bible study on the book of Mark. This group meets each Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. New women are welcome anytime. Contact the ministry for more information.

Are you currently caring for an elderly parent? This group offers support and solutions for those facing the issues associated with caring for an aging parent. The group meets each Wednesday from 6:45-8:15 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in modular room A-3.

Join the children of Grace Baptist Church at 7 p.m. for games, songs, Bible lessons and small group sessions.

Visit Christ the King Baptist Church on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. and take an in-depth look into the Bible.

Join members of Duncan Creek Church on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. for a bible study..

Join the prayer group at Dacula First United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. each Wednesday. The group meets in the parlor of the church.

  • Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University

The Wednesday class of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University starts tonight in Modular C at 6:30 p.m. This course is being offered by Hebron Baptist Church.

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18

If you would like to join this prayer group at Cornerstone Fellowship to pray for our community and country, please attend a prayer meeting offered on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and Friday evenings at 7 p.m.

 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 19

The Narcotics Anonymous group meets on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Modular A-2/4.  This is a group for men and women and there are no fees to join or attend.  Membership in NA is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used.

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church hosts an Alcoholics Anonymous group meeting each Friday at 8 p.m. in Modular A-5.  This is a group is open to both men and women and there are no fees to join or attend.

Join the men of Christ the King Baptist Church each Friday morning at 6 a.m. as they come together and pray for the church, families, the community and the country. Group meets in Founder's Hall.

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 21

All single adults ages 30-59 are invited to this event which will include breakfast, fellowship and a short bible lesson.
