City Council to Discuss Park Naming, Dedication Ceremony

A zoning resolution amendment and rezoning case will also be discussed during the April 26 work session.

With Memorial Day fast approaching, city officials are eager to settle on a new name for Dacula’s downtown park. The park will be a focal point of the city’s Memorial Day celebration and Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks has previously said he hopes to have the name decided by the holiday.

The Dacula City Council will discuss officially naming the park as well as the date and time of the dedication ceremony during council’s April 26 work session.

Other items on Thursday night’s agenda include:

  • Discussion of a proposed amendment to the city’s zoning resolution.
  • Discussion of a rezoning request related to a 4.28-acre piece of property on Harbins Road. The applicant, Jerry Johnson, has requested the property be rezoned from single family residential to office-institutional for the purpose of allowing a personal care home.
  • Discussion of a request to allow AFLAC to use City Hall for a job fair.

The Dacula City Council work session begins at 7 p.m. Council meets at Dacula City Hall, 442 Harbins Road in Dacula.
