Dacula City Council Awards Dacula Maintenance Building Site Construction Contract
The city council awarded a $298,000 contract for phase I of the maintenance facility project to F.E. Sims Enterprises.
The Dacula City Council held a called meeting on Thursday, March 15 to award the Dacula maintenance building site construction contract and to authorize the Mayor of Dacula to sign the contract.
According to City Administrator Jim Osborn, the Council approved a $298,000 contract for phase I of the maintenance facility project, approximately $75,000 of that is for road work. Phase 1 will consist of road work and site preparation which includes extending West Drowning Creek Road by approximately 1,000 feet. The contract was awarded to F.E. Sims Enterprises.
This entire project will be funded by SPLOST funds with road work and site prep costs being paid for with separate SPLOST funds.
After an early attempt to bid the project out as a whole, the council has decided to bid the project out in phases. Osborn confirmed the city received ten bids last year with the highest bid coming in at $1.315 million. All total project bids were more than the city had budgeted for this particular project.
