  • Five boys from Pack 530 were recently honored with the World Conservation Award – a recognition that these scouts have learned to think and act globally by initiating local clean-up programs, planting trees, studying man’s impact on nature, and more.
  • Entire Pack partnered with Boy Scouts from the area to create an outdoor classroom at Dacula Elementary School, complete with gardens and handicap access picnic tables.
  • Eighteen members of the Pack achieved their Arrow of Light – the highest award in Cub Scouts – earlier this year and graduated to the Boy Scouts. Five were dubbed “Super Achievers” for accomplishing all of their achievement badges as Webelos (We’ll Be Loyal Scouts).

Keys to success:

“The number one key to success for any Scout is family,” said Cubmaster Michelle Cronic. “If the family isn’t involved, the boys won’t be involved. Scouting is a positive focus that gives these boys the extra attention they need, and makes them feel special.”

Cronic knows this firsthand as the loving mother of two boys –- one of whom is a proud member of Pack 530 at age 8 (and one of the youngest in his Pack to achieve the World Conservation Award this year), and the other is an aspiring scout and unofficial mascot of the Pack at age 5. Scouting is a serious business in their family –- the boys’ grandfather was an Eagle Scout -– the highest rank attainable in the Scouting Program, and their mother picked up the reins by becoming Cubmaster just last year.

“The second key to our success is community support,” explains Cronic.

Cubmaster by night, Cronic serves as a registered medical assistant by day for local OB/GYN practice Total Lifetime Care for Women (TLC). She prides herself on being an active member of the Dacula community, and keeping the Pack involved.

“We adopt families at Thanksgiving and Christmas and provide them with meals and gifts. We also accept donations of food to deliver to a number of different pantries in the area," she said. "We are continually trying to reach out to the community, and be even more involved in the coming year.”

Lastly, Cronic credits Pack 530’s success to a strong network of great den and patrol leaders.

Cubmaster Cronic and Cub Scout Pack 530 are always open to accepting new members. “Becoming a Cub Scout provides boys with valuable tools they need to succeed in life,” says Cronic.
