Discount Store, Three Questions and Devilish Details
A look at a few of the most notable stories this week on Dacula Patch.
Dollar General Store Proposed for Harbins Road
Last week brought significant zoning-related news for two parts of Dacula. On the Hamilton Mill side, we learned the “Shire” zoning case is being delayed once again. The case, originally scheduled to go before the planning commission in July, will now be heard in September. In the Harbins area, we learned a rezoning request has been submitted to allow for the construction of a Dollar General near the intersection of Harbins Road and Jones Phillips Road. Does the Harbins area need this type of development? Click on the link above to see what residents in the area have to say about this proposal.
Three Questions With the Mayor: Aug. 10 Edition
Thanks again to Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks for providing a very informative update concerning events and happenings in Dacula. The mayor also shed some light on what he likes to do in his free time (which happens to be something I like doing in my free time as well).
The Devil Is in the Details of TSPLOST Vote
Though we will not have to pay the 1 percent TSPLOST on every purchase for the next 10 years, we will -- as taxpayers -- still be faced with additional costs for roadwork in the form of penalties built into the TSPLOST legislation. Ray Newman has a refresher for those of you who may have forgotten that little detail.
Beaudreau vs. Hunter: Who Will Get Your Vote?
The runoff is a little more than a week away. Turnout for runoffs is typically very low, but hopefully more voters will come out for this one. The decisions made by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners directly impact us in so many ways. It is critical to have good representation on the board. Be sure to make your voice heard.
