A Dacula High School student who died earlier this week will be laid to rest Saturday.

Christopher Smith, 18, collapsed during school on Tuesday and was taken to the hospital where he later died. According to Gwinnett County Medical Examiner Ted Bailey, the cause of death was a pulmonary embolism.

Funeral arrangements for Smith are still being finalized, but a spokeswoman for Taylor and Son Funeral Home in Tifton, Ga. said the funeral service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.  The location for the service has not yet been set. The burial will follow at St. John’s Baptist Church Cemetery, 3980 U.S. Highway 41 N., in Tifton.
