Gwinnett Tech to Offer Free Tax Preparation
College partnering with AARP Tax-Aide from Feb. 1 – April 15
Community residents along with Gwinnett Tech students, faculty and staff will once again be able to take advantage of free income tax preparation and tax counseling.
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be on the Gwinnett Tech campus from Feb. 1 to April 15. The free service will be available in the Busbee Center, Building 700, Room 2.106, Monday - Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. No assistance will be available the week of March 9 - 15.
No appointment is necessary. Participants are asked to bring last year’s income tax return, proper identification and all necessary documents for this tax year. Electronic filing will be available.
Individuals who claim itemized deductions on Schedule A, the higher education tuition and fees deduction, the educator expenses deduction or the casualty and thefts deduction will be unable to process their returns until February 14.
AARP Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run counseling and preparation service. Each year, the program helps more than 2.6 million people file their personal income tax forms. More than 6,500 sites around the country offer the service. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers prepare federal, state and local tax returns for middle and low income taxpayers, with special attention to those aged 60 and older.
AARP Tax-Aide is administered through the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service.
