Home Invaders Flee After Woman Yells at Them

Dacula woman said two men broke into her home after she chose not to answer the door.

A Dacula woman frightened away two home invaders by yelling at them after they broke down her door during an Oct. 16 burglary in the Old Dacula Bluffs subdivision.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the woman was sitting in her kitchen eating breakfast when she heard a knock at her front door. The woman, who was still in her pajamas, decided she was not going to answer the door. The woman told police the person at her door then began ringing her doorbell repeatedly. At that point, the woman walked into another room of the home so she could look outside and see who was at the front door.

“[The woman said] she could see a young black male standing at her door step and a ‘Jimmy’ GMC type of vehicle parked in front of her home,” the officer wrote in the report. The vehicle, according to the woman, was still running.

The woman watched as the male headed towards the vehicle as if to leave, but instead motioned to someone inside the sport utility vehicle.

Another male exited the vehicle, the woman told police, and both men walked up to her front door and “just started busting the door.”

The woman said she walked around the corner into the room just as one of the men was approaching her computer. Before the man could grab the computer, the woman reportedly yelled, “Get out!” and both men fled.

The woman advised that both men appeared to be in their early 20s, approximately 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 and weighing roughly 160 pounds.

Two witnesses saw the suspect vehicle leaving the subdivision. Both described the vehicle as a hunter green Chevrolet Trailblazer. Neither witness was able to obtain a tag number.

The case is listed as active.
