Hundreds of Dacula Residents Run the Peachtree

Over 400 local racers participated in the 10k event.

Of the more than 55,000 participants in the 2011 Peachtree Road Race, several hundred hailed from Dacula.

A total of 413 Dacula residents hit the streets of Atlanta Monday morning as part of the annual July 4 10k road race. The race, which began in Buckhead near Lenox Square Mall and ended at Piedmont Park, attracted 28,385 male participants and 26,705 female participants.

The overall race winner and winner of the mens’ division was Sammy Kitwara of Kenya with a clock time of 28:05. Werknesh Kidane of Ethiopia won the womens’ division with a time of 31:23.

Top Dacula runners in the mens’ division were:

  1. Christopher Mayer, finished 169th overall with a clock time of 36:07.
  2. Stephen Mayer, finished 188th overall with a clock time of 36:41.
  3. Mitchell Flammang, finished 199th overall with a clock time of 36:51.
  4. Colin Conroy, finished 217th overall with a clock time of 37:18.
  5. Matthew Groover, finished 472th overall with a clock time of 40:27.

Top Dacula runners in the womens’ division were:

  1. Rea Queen, finished 1390th overall with a clock time of 46:09.
  2. Kristi Shields, finished 1812th overall with a clock time of 1:16:39.
  3. Anita Fuller, finished 2090th overall with a clock time of 47:57.
  4. Maggie Cheatham, finished 2417th overall with a clock time of 1:46:13.
  5. Sabrina Seibel, finished 4086th overall with a clock time of 1:02:40.
