A Cumming woman was charged with disorderly conduct after refusing to leave Dos Copas in Dacula on Oct. 24.

Lisa F. Wright, 44, of 4980 Hyde Court in Cumming, initially contacted Gwinnett County Police to report a theft. Wright said her wallet, which she claimed was worth $3 million, had been stolen out of her purse while she was in the bar. Wright claimed she had been watching her purse all night and had no suspect information.

According to the police report, the owner of Dos Copas said Wright did not notice her wallet was missing until presented with a $93 bar tab.

Surveillance footage from 4 p.m., the time Wright arrived at Dos Copas, until 8:45 p.m., the time the officer arrived on scene, did not show anyone tampering with Wright’s purse. While the officer was reviewing the surveillance footage, Wright returned to the bar and attempted to purchase more alcohol. According to the bartender, Wright paid the $93 tab with cash she removed from her purse.

In the police report, the officer noted Wright had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath, slow and slurred speech and watery and bloodshot eyes. Wright also repeatedly said the Forsyth Sheriff was “out to kill her kids.”

At that point, the bar owner offered to help Wright find a safe ride home. Wright declined, insisting that she did not want his help and would not take a taxi home. Wright asked the officer to give her a ride. The officer explained that Wright had other options including offers from two sober friends to give her a ride home. Wright refused those offers as well.

When the bar owner informed Wright that he wanted her to leave because she was creating a disturbance, Wright refused and said she was “not going anywhere.” The officer advised Wright that if she did not leave, she would be arrested. Wright again said she did not intend to leave and that the officer would have to take her to jail.

Wright was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct. She was released from the Gwinnett County Detention Center the following afternoon on a $135 bond.
