Juveniles Detained After Stealing Packages in Hamilton Mill

Teens released after victim decides not to press charges.

Two juveniles were detained on Dec. 20 after an alert neighbor witnessed the youths stealing a package from the front stoop of a nearby home.

The witness said she saw the two teenage boys walk by her Hillgrove Terrace home several times before the theft occurred. As the woman watched, the youths removed a UPS package and ran.

The woman said she went outside and told the teens to stop. One of the boys immediately stopped, the other fled. After the woman said she intended to call police, the teen who stopped called for his friend to return to the scene. The teens waited with the witness until police arrived.

Police were able to recover the stolen package, which contained two jars of homemade salsa, and return it to the victim. According to the police report, the victim did not wish to prosecute due to poor health.

Both teens were released to their parents. The mother of one of the teens advised police that the two boys had recently been expelled from Mill Creek High School for possessing and discharging pepper spray on school grounds.

No charges were filed.

wonder if it was the same 2 teens we called the police on last week around 12:00am when our dog started barking and saw the 2 in our yard and they ran into the woods . Then when they thought we was back inside they came out of the woods and ran , 1 had a gray or white top on and the other had a black top and a black bag in his hane , both had black stocking hats on .. The police looked for them , but they got away ... We live on Mineral springs road though !

Hope, Thank you for alerting the police when suspicious behavior was around. It is our responsibility to keep our neighborhoods safe with the help of the police. Too many times citizens just don't think to check out why the dog is barking or who is in the car at the end of the street late at night. With teens increasingly committing crimes for FUN, it is time for the citizens to stand up, notify the authorities and press charges. No Consequence - No Change Thanks again Hope!
