Man Accuses Cop of Mistaking Private Parts for Pot

Man denies having bag of marijuana hidden in his crotch and warns that another officer had been fired for touching him.

A Lawrenceville man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on I-85 just north of Hamilton Mill Road.

On the afternoon of Feb. 3, a Gwinnett County Police officer stopped Bryan Brown, 21, for following another vehicle too closely. The officer approached the passenger side window of Brown’s vehicle and noticed a strong odor of marijuana. According to the report, Brown showed signs of nervousness including shaky hands and an unsteady voice.

The officer had Brown step out of the vehicle and began questioning him. The officer asked Brown if he had ever been arrested before and Brown admitted having been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Brown denied having any marijuana in his vehicle and consented to a search of the car.

“Brown pulled away and said that I had grabbed his ‘dick’,” the officer wrote. Brown then informed the officer that another officer had been fired for touching him.

The officer explained to Brown that he believed there was marijuana in his pants and that he intended to find it.

While waiting with the officer for a backup unit to arrive, Brown asked if he could go home if he told the officer where the marijuana was located. Brown then admitted having some in a bag and some in his pants.

After moving to location where Brown would be shielded from the view of passing traffic, the officer removed a bag of marijuana that had been hidden in the crotch of Brown's pants.

During a search of Brown’s vehicle, the officer also found a digital scale as well as marijuana stems and ashes.

Brown was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He remains jailed without bond.
