Man Chasing Dog Discovers Body

Remains found in Dacula on Saturday evening were found as resident tried to catch his dog.

The were discovered as a nearby resident was attempting to catch his dog.

According to Gwinnett County Police Department public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith, the man, who lives in the 1700 block of Harbins Road, contacted police after finding the remains.

The body was found in a wooded area adjacent to a small field. The small field and wooded area are located between two houses situated less than 100 yards apart. GCPD detectives and crime scene investigators used saws to cut away brush in order to access the remains.

“There are leads into the identity of the deceased,” Smith wrote in response to an emailed inquiry. “Before any information on the identity can be released, however, those leads need to be confirmed and notification to family members has to be made.”
