Mill Creek Student Facing Weapons Charge

An 18-year-old female was arrested after being found in possession of a knife on campus.

UPDATED May 16 at 2:10 p.m.

A Buford teen is facing weapon charges after a May 11 incident at Mill Creek High School.

Shamtellt Suzie Lopez, an 18-year-old freshman, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a deadly weapon at a public gathering after school officials discovered she had brought a knife to school.

According to Jorge Quintana, director of media relations for Gwinnett County Public Schools, Lopez did not take the knife out and did not attempt to use it, but did show it.

Lopez was released Friday on a $3,700 bond.
