Music Bash to Benefit Injured Drummer

A DHS student is going above and beyond to raise money to help a fellow musician and former Falcon.

Make plans to attend the at the Awake Venue in Dacula to benefit Caleb Graves. This event, planned and organized by graduate Alex Ball will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 6 p.m. until approximately 9 p.m. This event will feature various local bands including Kick the Robot, Nightmares, Young America, Capital Arms, City Silhouette and more. Tickets are $10 each and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to help Caleb and his family with medical bills.

Alex Ball and Caleb Graves first crossed paths at Dacula High School when Caleb was a senior and Alex just a freshman. They only knew each other casually as both were drummers and musicians. At the time, Graves was the captain of the school’s drum line.

, Ball stated he felt "an overwhelming calling to use his musical connections to put together a fundraiser for Graves and let the Dacula High graduate know his community is behind him.”

Graves, a 22-year-old drummer and missionary for the ministry Ihop of Atlanta, was helping move a stranded vehicle out of the roadway when he was struck by a passing car. In an email shared with the Patch, Graves stated, “I know Alex and I were just acquaintances before, but now I feel like I have a friend for life.”

Graves was recently discharged from the hospital after a complicated hospital stay and is now recovering at home. According to the Ball family, Graves is currently fighting an infection in his leg may face additional surgeries.
