New Carmike Theater Features 'BigD' Experience
Carmike Cinemas' newest entertainment complex is now open in Bethlehem.
Barrow County's latest attraction, Carmike Cinemas' Gateway Cinemas 12, is now open.
The entertainment complex, located approximately nine miles from downtown Dacula, near the intersection of Ga. Highway 316 and Hwy. 81 is one of the first in the nation to offer patrons the new “BIGD” format recently launched by Carmike. The BigD Experience includes a special screen that gives viewers a brighter 3D experience as they enjoy supple leather seats and additional upgrades in sound and overall visual experience.
The 12-screen facility is equipped with auditoriums featuring state-of-the-art stadium-style seating, with high-back luxury chairs, in addition to retractable armrests and cup holders. Gateway Cinemas 12 also offers large, wall-to-wall screens, as well as DLP DIGITAL projection and DIGITAL sound. The new theater has multiple concession areas and an indoor box office.
“We’re providing the ultimate entertainment experience that centerpieces large format Digital with bigger screens, bigger and better sound, and the finest in-theater seating for cutting edge presentation and the definitive enjoyment of our audiences,” David Passman, Carmike’s president and CEO, said in a news release.

They've done a good job at that intersection drawing businesses. We go there all the time because we have no traffic getting there and back and it's much quicker than gong to Lawrenceville. Why Dacula couldn't have done that at 316/Harbins I don't know.
