New Waffle House Opening Soon in Dacula

The restaurant will be located on Dacula Road in front of El Jinete.

Waffles, Bert's Chili or a heaping platter of scattered, smothered and covered hash browns -- whatever your pleasure, you'll soon have another place to satisfy your Waffle House cravings.

According to Kelly Thrasher of Waffle House Media Relations, the company has closed on property at 772 Dacula Road and plans to build a new restaurant at that location. A construction timeline is not yet available, Thrasher indicated.

Joey Murphy, Dacula Director of Planning and Development, said the new restaurant will be located on the lot in front of El Jinete. Corporate officials are pursuing a "very aggressive" schedule, Murphy said, and hope to have all applicable permits by Aug. 1.

The new restaurant will be the third Waffle House in Dacula. The company currently operates Waffle House restaurants on Winder Highway and Harbins Road.

Are you excited about having another Waffle House in Dacula? What do you think about the location? Let us know in the comments.

There is no need for yet another Waffle House in Dacula. Waffle Houses should be restricted to areas where truckers have easy access for a quick and hot meal (like those along 316/85), rather than in the middle of a more residential/family type area such as this.

? I like Waffle House! I won't be going to that one though. We need a good sit down restaurant like Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, Folks, heck, even Captain D's would be good.

Hmmmm... I'm hungry now.

I'm holding out for a Captain Steve's or Kristi's Breakfast Barn myself. Down with corporate food control! Support your local diner!

Breakfast Barn is a good name suggestion, but I was kind of leaning towards Kristi's Pancake-o-Rama ....

If we needed a good breakfast and dinner resturant how about an IHOP?

IHOP is over-priced. At $2.98 for a glass of milk, I’ll stick with Waffle House. I’d like to see a Wendy’s or a Chipole’s in town. Dacula isn’t big enough for any of the big chains like Applebee’s or Olive Garden but maybe someday.

Comments must be from Yankees. Ever try getting INTO one of the current 3 WH locations in dacula/auburn on a sat, sun or holiday morning ? Obviously not. Oh...you won' find a semi truck taking up all the parking places , mostly mini vans and SUV's. The only "trucker" WH is sometimes the old one next to QT on Winder hwy because of the publics dist center and the former auto hauler on the other side of 316.. IF it's true that the Hwy 29 exit ramp from the new 316 will decend onto Fence Rd, it could be that the QT WH location will be closed . With all the forclosures still going on in this area, Dacula has to take what it can get. At least, unlike all the other places that have opened and failed in that area, you can depend on WH to be there , paying taxes for many, many years.

That is a very good point. We normally wait until at least mid-morning to try to go. I wouldn't even dream of going on Thanksgiving or Christmas -- they are always packed!

I'll stick with "my" Waffle House at 316 and Harbins Road. Kristi, I would like an IHOP and Sandra would like a Captain D's. However, what I would really like is a Long Horn. NGW, next time you're at the Waffle House and order up an omelet, ask them to put the hashbrowns inside the omelet.

I just cant believe out of that nice space across from el jinetes they put a waffle house!! It would have been perfect for a nice new hip spot! Dacula is going to stay forever country... Why not a nice steak house, martini bar, or pub?????

just what we need another building to be built while there are tons of vacant shopping centers that were built all over the same area! If people wanted all these food choices when they moved here, they wouldn't have moved here! People moved here because they wanted to live in a "sleepy, boring town". If we wanted all these new stores and restaurants we could have lived in Duluth, Snellville of Lawrenceville. After all look how successful all the building has been for their community! That's why they all moved out here, I wish people would learn from their mistakes instead of trying to ruin Dacula too!

I agree! I look around and see the neon lights from Sonic, the neon lights from the new Chase bank, the EMPTY buildings all over and now a trashy Waffle House..really?? Our Town Planners need to stop allowing new buildings until we fill the ones we have that sit vacant.

I agree, also! Some of the space in the empty shopping center couldhave been converted. However, you see this all over Gwinnett County. I wont be eating at this WH, as i love going to the one at the Mall of Georgia. There are employees there that get to know there customers and when you go in they call you by name. Everyone once in a while "Big Daddy" would sing you a song and i have never herd anyone complain. i also agree when do need a steak house (not longhorn, last time we eat there it was terrible, gone down hill since ownership changed). i would like to see a IHOP.

While I agree that there could be a better restaurant to go there, the city of Dacula is not going to turn down a business license for another food place. And I can assure you that the Waffle House will always have people in it.

Now... we need to find someone with money that is willing to put a "real" restaurant in Dacula.

Ate at Jimmy's Waffle House last night! :-))

What this area needs is a good Meat n Three. Sometimes we crave us some collards, fried okra and a slab of chicken fried steak. Maybe some catfish, hushpuppies and stewed tomatoes. Getting tired of driving to Folks or Papa Jacks.

We need a BBQ joint here in Dacula. Tim's was inconsistant. The first time I ate at Tim's, I thought I found the best BBQ around. Everytime I went back, it was only worse each time. Makes sense he's gone now. Holy Smoke is pretty good and they score a 100% every time.

Its a bit of a drive down to 85 and Old Peachtree but there is a Jim & Nick's BBQ there. And Shane's at Hamilton Mill isn't bad for a semi-fast food BBQ place. Really great service and friendly people.

My god, Dacula can stay a country town. No one is asking for HIP HOP ATLANTA in dacula, all we want is a new restaurant instead of waffle house to go to! Is that so bad???? WOW This is so weird to me I even have to defend wanting a new place to eat!!!!!!!

Is Papa Jacks the place at Braselton Hwy and 211?

There is a new sports bar in the Dacula area. Stadium Bar and Grill. Where Ivy Creek.KC's was located next to the Publix at Fence Road. Really bad location but someone else is giving it a try. I had lunch there. Nothing really special except for the fries...fresh cut potatoes, not frozen crap.

There are a lot of restaurants I'd like to see around here but overall I'd really like to see a great privately-owned casual dining restaurant along the lines of Dell Rio in value, quality, and interior but with a menu option more akin to TGI Friday/ Chili's. We've been going to Fatz in Winder (I would love to have a Fatz here, even though I think they're a regional chain) and Fusion as of late when we're not doing the Mexican thing.

Sugar Hill is too "fufu" to be called a Diner. It is a misuse of the word really. I'm from up north (PA & NJ) they have diners. The Cup & Saucer in Loganville is as good as it gets around here. Great food, great people and simple. Breakfast shouldn't be fancy. Simple is the name of the game when you're looking for eggs and such.

Driving by the construction site, I have to say it seems like a silly place for anything but maybe a small Krispy Kreme or Duncan Donuts. I feel badly in a way for the Mexican place that is now in the shadows.
