Rabies Alert: Two Rabid Animals Found in Northern Gwinnett County

Raccoons test positive for rabies.

Gwinnett County has issued a rabies alert after two raccoons found in Buford tested positive for rabies, according to the Animal Welfare and Enforcement website.

One raccoon was found Jan. 16 in the 3600 block of Sardis Church Road. The other was found the same day in the 800 block of Cannodale Court. 

Officials urge that anyone bitten or scratched by a stray animal, or anyone who has handled  a stray, call the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Bite Office at 770-339-3200, ext. 5576. Any animal acting unusual should be reported to the Animal Welfare and Enforcement office at 770-513-5100.
