Rick Tanner's Closed, Expects to Reopen Next Month in New Location
Impasse with landlord blamed for restaurant relocation.
Rick Tanner's is closing its doors -- at least temporarily.
In an email to Dacula Patch, restaurant owner Gene Kerley explained an impasse with The Shops at Hamilton Mill landlord has forced the eatery to close its Braselton Highway location.
"We have met with our staff as we have great group of people that want to continue working with us," Kerley wrote.
Kerley shared the message he has posted on the restaurant's Facebook page:
"We wanted to first thank everyone for their support over the last two years as well as clarify what is going on with Tanner's in Dacula. We have come to an impasse with the landlord after multiple attempts as far back as January of this year to work with the them. However, it became very apparent after our recent attempts that they did not really care if we stayed at the center or not. They are extremely difficult to deal with and left us no choice as we felt our business there was not secure considering how we had been treated by them.
Good news is look for Tanner's Grille coming soon near you...very soon look out for more info we will keep you posted."
Kerley indicated he is in the process of negotiating a lease for a new space and hopes to reopen in August. He declined to name the location explaining the lease has not yet been finalized.

No Big loss here. Tanners was good 15-20 years ago.

If you go to the one in Suwanee, it is exactly like it was 15-20 years ago. I am a big fan of that one reminds me of my childhood.

This place was was terrible. No consistantcy and terrible service. Tanners has a pattern they stick to, stay in a location until you wear out your welcome and then move. First they were located at Hamilton Mill and Buford Highway, stayed less than 2 years. "had issues with the landlord" so moved to Hamilton Mill (current location). Now here they are two years in and again are having trouble with their landlord and are moving again. Hard to have a successfully resteraunt if your service and food is bad and you are relocating every two years.

What the heck? I have NEVER had a bad meal at any Tanners. (although the help hasn't always been consistent). The Hamilton Mill location was always lively and seriously, the food was fabulous. We've been going to Tanners since the 80s we lived in Lilburn and would go up to the Lawrenceville location. When we moved to Buford, we frequented the Suwanee, and when we moved to Braselton, we went to the Hamilton Mill. The Buford and Hamilton Mills locations were serving customers simultaneously, so it is not true that they got kicked out of Buford and went to Hamilton Mill. Beware of trolls. Can't wait for Tanners to return!

The strip they were in on Buford Hwy is completely abandoned with the exception of a Dominick's that's never busy. That's a landlord problem.
