Significant Weather Advisory Issued for Dacula Area

The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory that is in effect until 8 p.m.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory for pea sized hail and 40 mph winds until 8 p.m. for Barrow, Dekalb, Gwinnett, Hall and Jackson counties.

Doppler radar has detected strong thunderstorms from Hog Mountain to Cedar Grove moving east at 20 mph.

Potential hazards from this storm include frequent cloud to ground lightning and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services (GCFES) and Gwinnett County Police are currently dealing with heavy storm related damage in the Peachtree Corners area of Gwinnett County. Numerous trees and power lines are down with some trees down on houses according to Capt. Tommy Rutledge of GCFES.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
