Three Questions With the Mayor: New Business, Friday Night Lights and SEC Pick
Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks answers questions about our community.
In this week's "Three Questions With the Mayor," Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks provides an update on the latest city news and shares his thoughts regarding the upcoming college football season.
Dacula Patch: What's new in Dacula this week?
Mayor Wilbanks: A new business is open -- Heavenly Desserts & Café -- at 2300 Liam Avenue, Building 2 (near Friends Sports Grill). We always welcome new businesses and appreciate the owners’ willingness to invest their time and finances in Dacula. If you want a nice ice cream or hot dog, please patronize Heavenly Desserts.
Dacula Patch: What is something Dacula residents need to know?
Mayor Wilbanks: As we come closer to Friday night football in Dacula (no home games this week), please drive carefully near the high school football stadium and near Hebron Christian Academy -- both on Dacula Road. There are many activities at Dacula Park and at Hebron Christian leading up to the home games and lots of pedestrian traffic in those areas.
Dacula Patch: The AP preseason rankings have five SEC teams in the top 10 -- Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas and South Carolina. Which of these teams is your favorite and which of them will win the SEC this year?
Mayor Wilbanks: Gosh how to pick the SEC winner this early and with this much talent on each of the five teams mentioned. Have to go with my alma mater, the University of Georgia. Go, Dawgs!
Which team do you think will win the SEC? Let us know in the comments.

Since my son is at UGA, I'm okay with letting Georgia win the east but the conference title will go to Alabama. RTR!

I'm quite surprised how high UGA is ranked given all their off the filed antics this summer.
What I'm really bummed about is the over-inflated feeling that USC (the California one) is worth a darn this year. I just don't think Dooley has it together out there yet. Aren't they (USC) still on some sort of probation?
BAMA all the way! RTR!!

I'm with you on that. Plus, just look at UGA's schedule compared to some of the other SEC teams. It should be a cakewalk, but that's not necessarily indicative of a great team -- just an easy schedule. As for USC, I am still shaking my head over that and am frankly more than a little bit offended they were ranked ahead of BAMA. RTR!
