TSPLOST, Freemans Walk Road Project on Council Agenda

The City of Dacula will meet Thursday night to decide how to spend its share of the TSPLOST proceeds should the regional Transportation Investment Act referendum pass on July 31.

The Dacula City Council will decide Thursday how to spend the $1.5 million the city stands to receive should voters approve a 1-percent transportation sales tax on July 31 as part of the regional Transportation Investment Act (TSPLOST) referendum.

During the May 31 council work session, Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks said the city intends to take any TSPLOST revenue, leverage it with Dacula’s regular special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) funding and accelerate the city's 5-year transportation plan.

The city will host a Transportation Investment Act town hall meeting on July 19 from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Citizens will be able to stop by Dacula City Hall and ask questions regarding local projects that will be funded through TSPLOST proceeds.

Other business on the June 7 agenda includes authorization for the city to open bidding for a road project in Freeman Walk Subdivision. The proposed repairs would include adding two inches of topping to a portion of the roadway and would be funded through SPLOST.

The council meets at Dacula City Hall, 442 Harbins Road in Dacula. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
