Two Seriously Injured in Head-on Collision
One patient life-flighted. Police say accident occurred before officers could pull over a suspected drunk driver.
Two people were seriously injured in a head-on collision near Braselton Highway and Spout Springs Road on Saturday evening around 8:30 p.m.
Both patients were trapped inside their vehicles and had to be extricated. One patient was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center. A second patient was life-flighted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta after a lengthy extrication. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services public information officer Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the injuries appear to be critical.
Two other patients were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to GCPD public information officer Cpl. Edwin Ritter, police were called to the area in response to a report of a possibly drunk driver. The accident occurred before police could get the suspect vehicle stopped, Ritter said.
The Gwinnett County Police Department accident investigation unit (AIU) was called to the scene. The AIU investigates all motor vehicle accidents involving fatal or life-threatening injuries.
