Wood Places at GPAC Art Show

Best of Show – Caroline Self of Athens – “Comic Strips” - a mixed media work.
First Place:  2-D – Marisela Marcialas of Sugar Hill - “Butterflies” - oil.
First Place:  3-D -  Myrna Trapp of Monroe – “Spring is Coming” – clay.
Second Place:  2-D – Henry Wood, Jr. of Dacula – “Happy Colors” – watercolor.
Second Place:  3-D – Bill Cooper of Hoschton – “Rocking Red” – clay.

Henry Wood Jr. of Dacula was honored this past weekend for his work in the "Radically Red" gallery art exhibition at the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center (GPAC) in Auburn.

Wood placed second in the 2D category with his watercolor "Happy Colors." Caroline Self of Athens won best of show for her mixed media work "Comic Strips." Marisela Marcialas of Sugar Hill placed first in the 2D category with her oil painting entitled "Butterflies."

In the 3D category, Myrna Trapp of Monroe took first prize with her "Spring is Coming" clay piece. Bill Cooper of Hoschton placed second with his clay art work "Rocking Red."

Marcialas, Kathleen Gill, Craig Gill and Susan Grilli each received honorable mention awards.

Kathleen Gill, GPAC president, said she was pleased by the variety of work submitted.

GPAC’s next gallery show, “Envy Green,” is scheduled for March 19-20. Artists of all skill levels are invited to participate.  The event will be open to the general public.

On April 9, GPAC will present the "Spring Phling" tent festival on the lawn at the art center cottage. For more details, visit the GPAC website.
