Each week, Dacula Patch will take a look at high school sports action from the previous week.Mill Creek’s football season got off to a good start with last Friday’s 35-27 win over crosstown rival Dacula. The Hawks hope to add another victory to the win column this Friday, Sept. 2 at Alpharetta. The Raiders (1-0) defeated North Cobb 29-26 during their last outing. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Dacula (0-2) will have the week off to prepare for their Sept. 9 game against region rival Brookwood. It may not technically be the most important game of the season. The outcome will have absolutely no impact on either team’s regional standings. Nonetheless, Mill Creek and Dacula fans will be fired up this Friday as the crosstown rivals square off on the football field. Dacula won last year’s matchup by a score of 34-31. Softball gets into full swing this week with all of our local teams in action. Mill Creek will host Mountain View on Tuesday, Aug. 16 with the first pitch set for 5:55 p.m. Hebron takes on George Walton at home on Aug. 16 and will host Athens Christian on Thursday, Aug. 18. The official start of high school volleyball season is just one week away for Mill Creek, Hebron and Dacula. The Lady Hawks are preparing for the season with a scrimmage today at 4:30 p.m. at the Suwanee Sports Academy and will participate in the Sequoyah Classic this Friday and Saturday. Mill Creek’s first match of the season will be Tuesday, Aug. 16 at Greater Atlanta Christian. By Fletcher Proctor Dacula Defeats Black Knights, Takes Down Shiloh Dacula tripped Central Gwinnett 3-2 on March 29 thanks to three singles victories. Caleb Barth, Matt Nelson and David Anderson each claimed a point for the Falcons. Things were a bit easier for Dacula March 31 as the Falcons took down Shiloh 5-0 in Region 8-5A action. The winter sports season is rapidly drawing to a close. As we head into the final weeks of play, several teams will be working to secure a playoff slot or, in the case of our area swim and dive teams, a county championship. Swim and dive leads our preview of this week’s high school sports action: 1. Last week’s snowfall forced the cancellation of nearly all local sporting events. The Mill Creek swim and dive team held a meet on Saturday, but most other teams were forced to cancel due to icy conditions on roadways and school campuses.
