A service project and special remembrance ceremony is planned in Dacula on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
Mill Creek student Charles Orgbon, founder of Greening Forward, has organized a litter pick-up and a remembrance service to honor those who died during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Volunteers will gather in the Dacula High School parking lot at 5 p.m. and will then pick up trash along Second Avenue from the school to Olde Mill Park in Historic Downtown Dacula.
At 6 p.m., the remembrance ceremony will begin. Guest speakers include Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks and other local dignitaries. Mill Creek band members are also scheduled to perform.
As part of the ceremony, volunteers will plant a tree in front of Olde Mill Park as a living tribute to the victims of 9/11.
