Dacula Organization Awarded Grant From Gwinnett Braves

The grant will support the organization's weekend food ministry.

Dacula-based Nothing but the Truth has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the Gwinnett Braves to support the organization's weekend food bag ministry.

Through its weekend food bag ministry, Nothing but the Truth serves students that have been identified by school counselors as being in need. Each Friday, bags of food are sent home with these children. Since the program began in 2010, the organization has provided aid at 18 Gwinnett County schools, one Barrow County school and three Clayton County schools.

In addition to the grant, the Gwinnett Braves will also supply volunteers to help pack food bags once a month.

“It is an honor to work with local Title I schools to help students who are food insecure,” said Scarlett Rigsby, Executive Director of Nothing but the Truth, in a released statement.  “No one wants to think of students going home on Friday from school and having little or nothing to eat over the weekend.  Unfortunately this is a reality among way too many of our students.  This grant from the Gwinnett Braves helps us serve 18 schools and provide food for 360 students per week through our Weekend Food Program.”
