Georgia Baptist Convention to Convene at Hebron

The 192nd session of the Georgia Baptist Convention convenes Monday, Nov. 11, at Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula.

This year's convention includes a celebration of the "Backpacks for Appalachia" project in which 3,607 Georgia Baptist churches have been challenged to collect 20,000 backpacks for Appalachian children.

The backpacks will be filled with school supplies, clothes, food, Bibles and other items. According to a Georgia Baptist Convention press release, the backpacks will then be distributed via Southern Baptist Disaster Relief vehicles in Appalchia.

"Without a doubt this is one of the most poverty-stricken areas of our country and in much need of care and compassion as well as the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ," said Georgia Baptist Convention Executive Director J. Robert White in a released statement.

The convention convenes on Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. and concludes on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.connectgbc.com.
