Heilsgeschichte

Heilsgeshcichte is a German word that literally means "history of redemption", or "salvation history".  It is used to describe the gradual unfolding and revealing of God in the Holy Bible.

God does not dump His fullness onto mankind in the beginning of the book / after the Fall (Adam), as mankind was not prepared or able to understand, comprehend, or embrace God in His fullness.  For that matter, neither are we!  Scientists stated years ago that we only use about 10% of our potential "brain power". 

The Bible is not necessarily written in chronological order, but the Torah (1st 5 books) pretty much follow a time  sequence.  As we read through the Bible, we see a gradual revealing of who God is, His characteristics / attributes, expectations, desires for our lives, His Grace, and His desire for fellowship with humans...created in His image. 

We also see the gradual unfolding of the history of redemption, or salvation.  Everything in the Old Testament points to Jesus.  Every color, article, item, and ritual in the Tabernacle pointed directly to Jesus. 

I challenge you to read the Bible.  Study is one thing, but reading is another.  Just read.  If you don't "get" it, it's ok.....just keep reading.  Don't stop...read.  There is a blessing pronounced on those who "read".  Yes, there are some for those who also "study".  Read....you'll find the blessings!
