Do You Give A Dollar?

In-store shoppers have “Black Friday”. Online shoppers have “Cyber Monday”. This year, nonprofits have “Green Wednesday”. Wednesday, November 13th that is, a 24-hour period where Georgians help Georgians during the 2nd annual nonprofit Give-a-thon, otherwise known as Georgia Gives Day. Show us your green on Georgia Gives Day by selecting the nonprofit or cause of your choice and making a donation.

In conjunction with Green Wednesday, the Colored Rocks Foundation, which works to improve educational outcomes among Georgia’s highest at-risk student groups, is offering a unique gift opportunity. For just $1 each, donors can purchase one or more virtual Colored Rocks in their gift recipient’s name and complete their holiday shopping in one stop. There is no shipping and handling and no postage. Just purchase however many virtual Colored Rocks you want at $1 each and email the recipient a note explaining how many at-risk students they just helped to inspire.

“Almost everyone can afford $1 and every dollar helps”, claimed Cheryl Dukes, Executive Director of the Colored Rocks Foundation. “We hope those people interested in supporting Georgia’s youth will encourage their friends to return to our site several times throughout the day on November 13, so they can stay engaged and donate virtual Colored Rocks in the names of those friends and family they plan to shop for during the holiday season. Give early, give often.”

The gifting does not stop after Green Wednesday is over. “You can support us and take care of your gift list by purchasing your virtual Colored Rocks at any time leading up to Christmas, while supplies last”, said Dukes, “But it’s always more fun to purchase during the mad rush, so we expect to see lots of folks out shopping and supporting their favorite causes on Green Wednesday.”

All of us have benefitted at one time or another from the services of a nonprofit. Do you care enough to give a dollar?
