Area Residents Welcome Wounded Warrior Spc. Sam Walley Home

Walley, who was seriously wounded in Afghanistan, returned home for the first time since his injury on Thursday, May 30.

Barrow County residents lined Broad Street in downtown Winder to welcome wounded warrior Spc. Sam Walley home on Thursday, May 30.

Walley, a 20-year-old Winder Barrow High School graduate, was injured in an IED explosion in Afghanistan. According to an update posted by the Bethlehem Riders, Walley lost his left arm and right leg in the explosion and doctors are still working to save his left leg.

Law enforcement and veterans groups escorted Walley from Augusta to Barrow County. Watch the video to see the motorcade pass through downtown Winder.
