Auburn Mayor Scheduled for Georgia Rides to the Capitol
Local mayors around Atlanta will join the Governor in support of cycling as transportation option.
Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger is one of more than two dozen local leaders who are expected to attend the ninth annual Georgia Rides to the Capitol Tuesday, March 18.
The event, held to show support for cyclist rights, will include police-escorted rides from Roswell and Decatur to the State Capitol. Those rides will be led by Roswell Mayor Jere Wood and Decatur Councilman Fred Boykin. More than 1,000 cyclists are expected to participate.
Arrival time at the Capitol is estimated to be around 11:40 a.m.

According to a press release, the event is being hosted by the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association and Georgia Bikes!, which favors the “development of a regional-scale bicycle network of both on-road facilities and multi-use-trails, as well as cycling connections to major transit facilities, activity centers and schools.”
Gov. Nathan Deal and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle are expected to attend. Others expected:- Mayor David Belle Isle, Alpharetta
