Dining in (and Near!) Dacula: Genghis Grill

Mongolian stir fry in a build your own bowl.

Yes, I know this isn’t right here in Dacula proper, but I have to make sure you all know about the new Genghis Grill located right across from the Mall of Georgia.  This restaurant is located at 1825 Mall of Georgia Boulevard in Buford and is in the last shopping strip on the left before you reach the red light at Hwy. 20.

Genghis Grill specializes in Mongolian stir fry in a build your own bowl, but we will get back to that part in a moment.  You can watch as the cooks at this restaurant grill up your order Asian style. Genghis Grill is an open restaurant with booth and table seating.  They can accommodate parties of all sizes and offer comfortable waiting areas for busier times.

Now that you know what the restaurant is like, you need to know how it works.  When you arrive at Genghis you will be seated at a table with your party and your drink orders will be taken.  Next you will proceed to the food line where you may choose to “Build Your Own Bowl” or “Choose a Genghis Bowl.”  If you choose a Genghis Bowl you will take a card that lists the ingredients you should select in order to have that dish prepared.  If you are picky, like me, you can “Build Your Own Bowl.”  Either way you will proceed through the line and follow these simple steps to prepare your meal.

Step 1:  The Protein Section - Choose between various beef, chicken, pork, or seafood options. You can even get a little of several or all of one particular kind.

Step 2:  Seasonings - Next pause to select your seasonings (you will put these over the meats you previously selected.

Step 3: Veggies - Fill up a separate bowl from  a selection of 30 vegetables.

Step 4: Sauces -  Pick out your favorite sauce (yes they have tasting spoons).

Step 5: Starches - Give all your items to one of the cooks and let them know your choice of starch: steamed rice, fried rice, brown rice, pasta or Udon noodles.

The last step is to watch as your items are cooked on the open fire or choose to return to your table and in a few short moments a server will deliver your food.

Genghis Grill is a fun, new dining experience within a five minute drive of Dacula. A bowl at Genghis will cost you $8.99/$9.99 and you can even bump your order up to unlimited trips through the line for $10.99/$13.99.

A personal piece of advice, Genghis can get pretty crowded on the weekends so go early or try it out during the week.  Genghis Grill is open Sundays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
