Grab and Go Kids Planner: Five Fun Things to Do This Week

Meet a Gladiator, go shopping and let reading go to the dogs.

Here's your weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

Where/When: Wednesday, Feb. 16 - Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.

Why Go: Kidsignments is holding its spring/summer consignment sale this week thru the weekend.  This one of the largest consignment sales in the area boasting a 1,400 seller limit and has twice been voted “Best Place to Buy Childrens Clothing” by Gwinnett Magazine and is listed in the top “101 Things to Do In Georgia."  If you are in need of anything related to the kids this is the place to be this week. Hours on Wednesday and Thursday are 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pricing: Free to look, lots of items to purchase.

Where/When: Thursday, Feb.17 at Barnes and Noble located at the Mall of Georgia. Storytime begins at 11 a.m.

Why Go:  Barnes and Noble offers this free story time to the community.  Kids have a great time listening to special stories and learning to love books at the same time.

Pricing: Free, no registration required.

 


Where/When:  Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. inside the Dacula Library.

Why Go:  The kids will love to read books with special dogs from Atlanta TheraPaws.  These trained and registered dogs will meet the children ages 5-10 and help encourage them to read.  

Pricing:  Free event sponsored by the Gwinnett Public Library System.

 

Where/When: Saturday, Feb. 19 from 2-4 p.m. at Discover Mills Mall.

Why Go:  Hockey fans make sure to head out to Discover Mills and attend the 2011 Book Blast.  Forward Matt Francis of the Gwinnett Gladiators will be making an appearance to meet the kids and encourage reading. 

Pricing:  Free event sponsored by the Gwinnett County Public Library.

 


When/Where:  Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 5-6 p.m. at the Dacula Academy, 2303 Alcovy Rd.  

Why Go:  Gwinnett County Public School representatives will be available to answer questions you may have regarding Kindergarten and registration for the 2011-2012 school year. Get the answers to questions such as:
When is Kindergarten Registration?
What do I need to bring to Registration?
How do I prepare my child for Kindergarten?

 Pricing: Free, you do not need to attend Dacula Academy to attend.
