Man Whose Life Was Saved by CPR Hosting 'Dacula Heart Day'

Dacula resident Patrick Spink collapsed during a run at Rabbit Hill Park last July and now is working to make sure others know the technique that saved his life.

Patrick Spink was enjoying a run at Rabbit Hill Park last July when he suddenly collapsed. Three strangers performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

After a successful bypass surgery, Spink is now on a mission to make sure others know the technique that saved his life. This Saturday, Jan. 11, Spink will host "Dacula Heart Day" at Dacula United Methodist Church.

The event will include a pancake breakfast, CPR lessons and free EKGs. A minimum donation of $2 is requested for the breakfast. Funds raised will be used to purchase two automated external defibrillators -- one for the Dacula United Methodist and one for a local community church.

See the Dacula Patch event listing for complete details.
