This week, Patch Picks takes a look at five great local non-profits making a difference in our community.

So what exactly is a non-profit? Non-profit organizations use raised funds strictly to promote the goals of the organization.

There are literally hundreds of outstanding non-profit organizations in Georgia. Here’s a look at a few located in and around Dacula:

Established in 1993, the distributes food four days a week to those in need.

Based in Monroe, Angel Food Ministries offers low cost food through two local churches – and .

Part of Lions Club International, the Dacula Lions Club is dedicated to volunteer efforts in the community including programs which help those with vision impairments and other disabilities.

The Crossroads Career Network helps people find new jobs through . Hebron Baptist Church is a member of the nationwide network.

This group of stay-at-home and part-time working mothers routinely participates in service projects benefitting local charities such as the Lawrenceville Food Cooperative, Partnership Against Domestic Violence and the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter.
