New Pageant Director Vows to Preserve Integrity of Miss Dacula Program

Sylvia Sasso plans to keep the legacy of the program moving forward.

Sylvia Sasso was recently appointed as the new director of the Miss Dacula Program. She is learning all of the ropes, and finding out all that she needs to know to keep the legacy and the integrity of this program moving forward.

Seven years ago, , the former director of the Miss Dacula Program enacted several changes to the program that made it more than just a beauty pageant. She gave the pageant a mission -- mentoring young ladies in public relations and community service through leadership.

“I am hoping to follow in Dawn’s footsteps,” Sasso said.

Sasso did not think twice about the opportunity to serve as the director of the Miss Dacula Program. Her daughter is a two-time representative, so she experienced firsthand the kind of impact that this program can have on a young lady.

“By my daughter being a representative, I found out what an amazing program this is and that it is not just a pageant,” Sasso explained. “You don’t just get a crown; it is a life changing experience for these girls. I think it is a great opportunity for them to give back to the community and really make a difference in their lives as well as the lives of the people in our community.”

Sasso believes that giving these young ladies the opportunity to give back is what sets the Miss Dacula Program apart.

“By being able to give back to the community, the girls grow and they become better on the inside,” Sasso said proudly. “Their confidence gets stronger, they learn to appreciate the little things in life, and they are humbled. I believe that is what the Miss Dacula Program is all about.”

That is also why Sasso’s main goal this year is to keep the program exactly that way Siska designed it.

“Dawn has done and amazing job organizing this program,” Sasso said. “I want the community to know that I will not have any major changes. We are going to be focused on community service, mentoring and giving back to the community. I consider this is an amazing opportunity.”
