Early voting continues in the Dacula Special Election at City Hall. Dacula Patch: What is something Dacula residents need to know?

Mayor Wilbanks: Halloween celebrations continue in the Dacula area. So youngsters may be out trick or treating after dark. I remind parents to dress their “tricksters” out in light colored costumes, and I urge drivers to be especially alert. I thought we had a very successful, first Fall Festival in the downtown area on Saturday.

Dacula Patch: Last week you mentioned a workout tip indicating music is the ultimate motivator. What is your favorite music to listen to when you are exercising, working in the yard, etc.?

Mayor Wilbanks: I like music. All kinds of music except for the dark, hard rock and rap genres. I even like some rap. There isn’t anything like a stirring march piece to get the blood pumping. What I find myself unconsciously humming as I work around the office is usually an old church hymn that I grew up with.  I suppose that is because most hymns have an honest beat and wonderful lyrics. I found myself humming “We’re marching to Zion” last Friday, and on another day the old black spiritual, “Joshua fit the battle of Jericho.” “Johnny, Be Good!” actually got my feet to tapping Saturday at the Fall Festival. Haven’t yet figured out why those and other hymns and tunes come my way seemingly unbidden. Wouldn’t this be a dull, colorless world without music!
