Dacula Cook of the Week: Traci Lowry

Here's the perfect side dish for your next pot luck.

No need to spend hours looking for the perfect side dish the next time you are invited to a pot luck. This week's Dacula Patch cook of the week Traci Lowry has a recipe for crock pot macaroni and cheese that is the perfect solution.

“The thing I like best about this dish is that it is so very easy,” Lowry said. “Everyone thinks it’s so good, and it takes just minutes to prepare!”

This recipe holds a special place in Lowry’s heart.

“I love this recipe because it reminds me of my grandmother’s homemade mac n’ cheese that we’d eat when we visited her during the holidays,” Lowry said. “Hers was always in a 9x13 casserole, and she used big chunks of cheddar.”

Lowry also has a great idea for making this recipe extra fun.

“Let your kids help,” Lowry suggests. “My girls like to crack the eggs in the crock-pot first and mix them up with a fork. I also let them drop the cheese in by handfuls. The only thing we measure is the milk!”

Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients:
8 oz dry elbow mac, cooked
3-4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
13-ounce can evaporated milk
1 ½ cups milk
2 eggs
Salt and Pepper to taste

Preparation:
1. Combine all ingredients, except 1 cup cheese, in greased slow cooker.
2. Sprinkle reserved cup of cheese over top.
3. Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours.
TIP: Do not remove the lid or stir until the mixture has finished cooking.

I first tried Lowry’s macaroni and cheese at a church get together. Everyone loved it, so I just had to get the recipe to share in the . Next time you are invited to a pot luck, give it a try. Everyone will love it!

Special thanks to Lowry for sharing this wonderful recipe with her Dacula friends and neighbors.
