Help preserve a local treasure by heading out to the 34th annual Elisha Winn Fair.
The fair will take place Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the festival are used to maintain the Elisha Winn home on Dacula Road.
Built in the early 1800s, the Elisha Winn House was the early seat of Gwinnett County government. The first county elections were held at the home and court hearings took place in a barn on the property.

In 1820, the county seat moved to Lawrenceville, but the Winn House remains as a symbol of the county's beginnings.
The Gwinnett Historical Society currently maintains the home. Each year, the society hosts a festival to raise money to preserve the structure and the other historical buildings on the property.

This year's event will include a craft fair, food vendors, live music, tours of the Elisha Winn home, Civil War reenactors, children's activities and more.
